Homage to the Cat!, Relief prints, assorted paper, thread and woodblocks 84x62 cm.
I wanted to pay homage to The Cat In The Hat by Dr. Seuss since it revolutionized children’s reading material over fifty years ago. I mixed my ink to match the colours of his book and printed them on uncarved blocks. Then I created my own quilt pattern (hopefully avoiding nasty copyright infringements), cut the relief colours using templates, and sewed the blocks in an attempt to suggest the playfulness of the original’s design.
